A good run at Afton
This is how I felt on Tuesday evening running at Afton. I was not trying too hard, and maintaining a decent pace. I ran out of time to do more than one loop (25k) so I decided to see if I could comfortably maintain an even "faster" pace for the loop. I came in at 2:30, which I was happy with. I could have maintained that pace for probably a third of the way through a second loop.
The good news is.... it was hot, and I was fine. Could I be getting acclimated? My heart rate never got out of control. My legs got sore before my heart rate showed any signs of maxing out.
I feel I could probably hammer out a 5:15 - 5:30 time for the 50k next week. If it is hot and steamy, longer.
The grass is getting high on the snowshoe loop. Kind of fun, but a few stumbles.
I need a good race to re-start the training.

I had a garden between my toes when I got out of the snowshoe loop last saturday. Rock On.
Sounds like it was a good run! This string of hot weather should acclimate you enough for a hot race at Afton next week. Have you been riding around in your car with the windows up and AC off?
Sounds awesome. Good luck at the race. I'm leaving for the Laramie 24hr tonight.
What's the new about me picture? An empty beer jug? Nice!
Cindi,
If you were a brewer, you would know what that is. :)
But since you are not :(, it is a yeast starter.
Basically, it is method of taking a small amount of yeast and making a huge amount of yeast. This does a lot of good things for a batch of beer.
If you look carefully, it is about a 1/4 full. That is probably 3.5 billion cells of White Labs Bavarian Heffeweizen strain yeast.
Thanks for the clarification Matt. Right, I'm not a brewer. Just a drinker.
