An odd pair of bumber stickers

I was driving down I25 yesterday south of Denver and saw the following bumber sticker

"Sea Level is for Sissies"

I found that to be funny. I got it. Tongue and Cheek.

On the same bumber I then saw one of those white oval stickers with the nubmers
13.1

If only I could have pulled up to that guy at a stoplight and said
"Half marathons are for Sissies"

It has been a long time since I have run a half marathon. They are tough because you have to run over your LT threshold. They are tough, but anybody can do them if they put the time and effort into it.

If I had come upon this car at a stoplight, I would have been tempted to say
"half marathons are for sissies"

I don't get those stickers on cars. I have an LPTR sticker on mine, and that is it.

Maybe I am a sissie. I live at only 500 ft.

Good luck to those runnign Voyageur this weekend. If you see Bill P, tell him this is his Sawtooth test.

Admittingly I'm one of those guys with the stickers on my truck 26.2, 50k and 50. When I put them on it seemed like a badge of honor telling the world that I entered into a small club that others might not even imagined existed. Recently I have begun to look at them as in different light and perceive them as bragging for some reason but I'm not sure why.

I think I keep them up there for those moments when I'm passed by another runner and get a nod or a thumbs up, for those conversations at the gas pump and even for that little kick in my step head out for another run.

I suppose as my running career continues I'll add a 100k and maybe some day a 100 and view them more like temporary tattoos rather than permanent ones while at the same time knowing that scars make better stories.
