I saw Kevin a few times and cheered by telling him that you said "Hi" and "Get the lead out". Kevin mentioned about mile 60 (I think) that he was in trouble… so from there he still did a marathon+. Good job, Kevin.Waynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04743448656871662819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9127193214128884628.post-53573025904687960542010-02-10T18:34:15.331-06:002010-02-10T18:34:15.331-06:00DNFing is somewhat of a rite of passage for ultrar...DNFing is somewhat of a rite of passage for ultrarunners. Almost everyone has experienced one at some point in time. How you react to one can make a long-term impact. It can shake your confidence or it can spur you on to greater determination. Better to DNF than DNS. My bro knew he wasn't in the best shape for this race, but he bucked up like a man and took his lumps. He's a better man for it and I know he'll come back strong. There is so much that goes through one's mind when the race isn't going to plan - and the longer the race, the tougher those internal conversations.

Great job Kevin - from what I know of Rocky your approach was spot on. On another day it would have resulted in an awesome PR.

Fantastic job by Karen & Wayne also.

Let's hope we can represent MN equally well in Kansas. Not hoping for the same result for WI... well, not quite :)Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06015544399068863167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9127193214128884628.post-70915133208961195762010-02-08T11:31:28.696-06:002010-02-08T11:31:28.696-06:00Matt, your entry ended up linked to on letsrun.com...Matt, your entry ended up linked to on letsrun.com.

Great, great!

I haven't yet had to drop in a 100, but when that time comes, I'm going to have your thoughts in mind.R Carterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09415214833146343679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9127193214128884628.post-77996148879580599532010-02-08T10:20:17.967-06:002010-02-08T10:20:17.967-06:00Yeah, I know the difference between finished and F...Yeah, I know the difference between finished and FINISHED. There's definitely a difference between dropping in anything under 50 miles and dropping in a 100. Running Times this month has some interesting thoughts on the topic regarding Matt Carpenter and Leadville, apparently (I haven't read it myself yet).nwgdchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15000663254776350045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9127193214128884628.post-82285549589138974502010-02-08T05:42:28.915-06:002010-02-08T05:42:28.915-06:00awesome postawesome postchris mcpeakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15488479732649522465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9127193214128884628.post-8382117498366246122010-02-07T20:54:37.399-06:002010-02-07T20:54:37.399-06:00Good post.Good post.Mike W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03062210284635385360noreply@blogger.com
